Workstations

Workstations are high-performance IP-based computers designed for technical tasks such as data analysis, software development, etc.

Add New Workstation

To add a workstation,
  1. Go to the workstations list view under Assets.
  2. Click New on the toolbar.
  3. Alternatively, go to Quick Actions  > New > Asset and choose Workstations as the product type.
  4. On the New Workstation form, fill out the required parent product type details.
  5. Configure the computer details using the following pointers:
 
Computer Details
Enter the service tag, BIOS details, manufacturer, and memory.
Select the domain from the drop-down.
OS
Enter the name, version, service pack, build number, product I, system type, system drive, license type, license status.
Virtual Host Details
Select ta virtual machine platform, and specify the installed and allowed virtual machines.
Network Adapters
Specify the network adapter details such as, IP address, MAC address, NIC details, network.
If you would like to enable DHCP then select the check box.
Processor
Specify the processor information, manufacturer, clock speed, and number of processor cores.
Hard Disks
Specify the hard disk model, serial number, manufacturer, and capacity in GB
Keyboard
Specify the keyboard type, manufacturer, and serial number.
Monitors
Specify the monitor type, serial number, manufacturer, and maximum resolution of the monitor.
Mouse
Specify the mouse type, mouse buttons details, manufacturer, and serial number.
Asset Details  
Specify the asset details using these pointers.
Asset State Details  
Specify the asset state details using these pointers.
Network Details
Specify the network adapter details such as IP Address, MAC Address, NIC, Network, DNS Server name and Default Gateway in the given text field.
If you want to enable DHCP, select True from the DHCP drop-down and enter the address in the DHCP Server field.
 
Additionally, configure details of motherboards, user accounts, memory modules, logical drives, physical drives, connected printers, videos card, ports, and sound cards via subforms.

Click Save after configuring the details or Save and Add New to open a new workstation form.
 
IdeaVirtual Machine Configuration: You can configure virtual machine information for workstations. Fill out the virtual host details in the Add form, and save the form. The virtual machine subform will then be displayed in the Edit form. 

Add Software to Workstations

Maintain software information in workstations.
 
Role Required: SDAdmin, SDSiteAdmin, Technicians with Add/Edit Assets permissions.
  1. Go to the workstation details page and click Actions > Add Software.
  2. Select your preferred software applications from the pop-up. Software added under Assets > Software will be displayed here.
  3. Use the filter drop-down to display software based on type.
  4. Select the software using the checkboxes and click Add Software.
 
The software that has been added will appear in the Software tab on the workstation details page.
You can print specific workstation details.
  1. Go to the workstation details page.
  2. Click Actions > Print Preview.
  3. On the print preview, enable the checkboxes against the sections you would like to print: Asset Details, Hardware, Virtual Machines, Software, Service Packs, Contracts, Cost, Depreciation Details, Associations, History, Attached assets, Attached Components.
  4. Click Print.
