Auto-Assign Workstations

Automatically assign workstations or servers to users based on the last login information.
Only Windows machines that have been scanned successfully can be auto-assigned.
The last logged user must be imported from AD to AssetExplorer.
Role Required: SDAdmin, SDSiteAdmin, Technicians with Add/Edit Assets permissions.

  1. In the Assets tab, select your preferred asset classification - IT Asset or Virtual Hosts and VMs.
  2. Select the relevant asset product type - Workstations, Server, Virtual Hosts, or Virtual Machines.
  3. On the toolbar, click and select Auto-Assign Workstations.
  4. Select the devices to be auto-assigned.
  5. The last logged in user will be identified and suggested as the device owner.
    1. You can change the owner by clicking on the Suggested Owner column.
    2. If a user is not present in AssetExplorer, enter their name manually.
  6. On assigning, the asset will be moved to the owner's site by default. Click Retain user site as asset site check box on the Note section to move the owner to the device's site.
  7. Click Assign.
Users added manually will be created in AssetExplorer and the workstation will be assigned to them.
You can also auto-assign workstations from the asset summary page.
This operation is not available for non IT assets and asset components.
