Web Remote

Web Remote

Role Required: SDAdmin

Currently, the Web Remote feature is only available for Windows machines.  However, Linux and Mac computers can be remotely controlled using Remote Desktop Sharing Feature in Endpoint Central. Click here to know more.

Web remote is an built-in tool to facilitate remote sessions on client machines. It has no installation of Java, Flash, ActiveX, or other plugins on the client's machine and will function as a separate service. By default, Web Remote will run on port 8083, which can be changed. Click here to change.

As an HTML5 browser-based utility, it supports various browsers including Google Chrome (Version ≥ 61), Mozilla Firefox (version ≥ 60), Safari (version ≥ 10.1), and Microsoft Edge (version ≥ 16). Web Remote also enables session capture.

Configuring Web Remote settings

  1. Go to Admin > Discovery > Remote Control Tools.
  2. Enable Web Remote by selecting the check box.
  3. Once enabled, click Web Remote to open the settings page.

  1. The Server Name will be auto populated and cannot be changed.
  2. Specify a Server Port Number. By default, this is set to 8083 but can be modified.
If the specified port is unavailable, the system will attempt to use the next available port, up to a maximum of 25 ports. If no ports are available, Web Remote will not function.
  1. Choose whether to record Web Remote sessions by enabling or disabling the Should record remote sessions option.
  2. Specify the Web RDP port number.
  3. Set a timeframe for cleaning up recorded session videos using the Clean up recorded video(s) older than -- days option. Recorded videos will be saved in the <AE_HOME>\webremoterecordedfiles directory.
  4. Click Submit to save the web remote Settings.
If you make any changes to the Server Port or enable/disable the Should record remote session option, you must restart the application for the changes to take effect.
