Add a Software License

AssetExplorer helps you manage software licenses installed on all devices within your organization.

A software license can be
  1. Upgraded to use the latest version of the software.
  2. Downgraded to use previous versions of the software.
Role Required: SDAdmin, Technicians with Complete Access to Assets.

To add a new software license,
  1. Go to Software > Software Licenses.
  2. Click Add New and select the type of license: Standard License or Upgrade License:
  3. Fill in the form as required.
    1. For Standard License:

Explanation
Manufacturer
Select the manufacturer from the drop-down
Managed Software*
Select the managed software you want to add to the license from the drop-down.

To select an unmanaged software, click and choose the software from the list.
Acquisition Date
Enter the license acquisition date.
Expiry Date
Enter the license expiry date.
License Type*
Choose the license type from the drop-down.
  1. For Client Access License type, filter the workstations under Choose CAL Installation based on the License Option selected. 
  2. For Concurrent License, specify the number of users allowed per installation and assign the license users under the Allocate to section.
  3. For Named User License, allocate the users under the Allocate to section.
  4. For the Node Locked license type, select the allocated user from the drop-down and provide the Host ID and OS of the workstation.
  5. For Trial License or Volume license type, specify the number of installations allowed.
To create a new license type, click and configure the fields with these pointers.
License Option*
Choose the licensing option from the drop-down.
Purchase Cost
Enter the license purchase cost,
Purchased For
Select the department for which the license was purchased from the drop-down.
License Key
Enter the license key,
Allocated to Site
Select the site to which the license is allocated from the drop-down.
Vendor Name
Select the vendor from the drop-down.
To add a new vendor, click beside the drop-down. Enter the name, description, contact person information, select the currency, and then click Save.
Description
Give a brief description of the license.

Select the manufacturer from the drop-down
Vendor Name
Choose the vendor from the drop-down.

To add a new vendor, click beside the drop-down. Enter the name, description, contact person information, select the currency, and then click Save.
Upgrade From*
Choose the current software version.
Upgrade To*
Select the software version you wish to upgrade to.
Purchase Cost
Enter the purchase cost.
Purchased License*
Select the license from the pop-up by clicking this icon
License Key
Enter the license key.
Description
Give a brief description of the license upgrade.

  1. Add downgrade rights, if applicable, by selecting the software and the license key.
  2. Finally, click Save.
