AssetExplorer allows you to customize license types for all software manufacturers based on the number of workstations and users.
To access the Software License Types configuration page, go to Admin > Software > Software License Types.
The default Software License Types in AssetExplorer are as follows:

Add a New License Type
- Click Add New License Type on the configuration page.
- Enter a name for the license in License Type.
- Choose the software manufacturer from the dropdown menu. You can also create a new manufacturer by clicking
.
- Software licenses can be tracked by workstations or users. Select the appropriate option from the Track By drop-down.
- Workstation: Licenses are counted based on the number of computers where the software is installed.
- User: Licenses are counted based on the number of individuals who can use the software.
- If you have selected Workstation,
- Select the number of installations allowed: Single, Volume, Unlimited, OEM
- Enable Is Node Locked to restrict the installation to only one instance on that particular workstation.
- If you have selected User, select the number of users allowed to use the software: Single, Volume, or Unlimited.
- Choose Is Perpetual if the software needs a one-time installation and does not require renewal.
- Choose Is Free License if the software is freeware with unlimited installations and no expiration.
- Some software license types have sublicenses. You can add these under the License Option. To delete a sub license, choose it from the list box and click
.

Configuration Page Actions
- To edit a license type, click
beside the license type.
- To delete a license type, select the checkbox beside the license type and click Delete.

Default license types cannot be edited or deleted.
