With the last upgrade of AssetExplorer, it looks like we need to install Endpoint Central for scanning assets. Is it included with our Enterprise License or does it need to be purchased as an Add-On?
AssetExplorer takes advantage of more secured and powerful agents from Endpoint Central for scan, remote control*, automatic agent upgrade and to fetch warranty info and it doesn't require any additional license to be purchased.
*Remote control is available for free for customers who have been using AssetExplorer before version 11.3 and available as add on for new customers.
What does the UEM Agent do? Is it free?
UEM agent is used for asset discovery in AssetExplorer. UEM is free for 25 devices.
Do we need to purchase a license for UEM to scan assets?
Irrespective of the license purchase of UEM, the agent will continue to do asset discovery in AssetExplorer.
Is UEM agent installation necessary? How long does the trial version last?
For asset discovery in AssetExplorer, UEM agent installation is required. UEM will revert to a free edition after a 30-day trial.
How to download the UEM agent and Patch Manager agent on the same machine?
Currently, you cannot install two UEM agents in one machine. From version 14000, we support integration with other UEM products like Patch Manager Plus. You can now download the PMP agent from AssetExplorer after integration. Please write to us

I noticed that Endpoint Central is currently installed in trial mode (30 days). Can you advise on what will happen at the end of this period?
Endpoint Central gets installed as a trial version (for 30 days). During this period you can explore full-blown UEM features. After the trial period is over, it automatically converts to a free edition. The features mentioned below will continue to work for all assets managed in AssetExplorer.
- Agent-based Scan for scanning Windows, Mac and Linux machines
- Remote control for Windows, Mac, and Linux machines *
- Warranty information for devices
- Auto upgrade of agents to newer versions
* Remote control is available for free for existing customers who have been using AssetExplorer before version 11.3. For new customers, it is available as an add-on.
When will the 30 minute restriction be removed? If the scan fails and an adjustment is made, we can't test again for another 30 minutes.
An asset can be scanned only once every 30 mins from the AssetExplorer. The resources will be locked for the next 30 mins. If there is any change in the client machine such as software installation/uninstallation, the agent will automatically scan and send the data to server every 12 mins.
Can I get complete hardware and software details of my VMs hosted on ESXi and Hyper-V servers?
Yes, you can scan virtual machines and fetch complete details by installing UEM agents for the respective Operating Systems (Linux/Windows agents).
Do I need to get additional Technician Licenses in Endpoint Central to use the scan feature in AssetExplorer?
For performing scan and remote control* on assets managed in AssetExplorer, you do not have to purchase additional technician licenses in Endpoint Central.
However, you require additional licenses if you have purchased Endpoint Central separately and want your Endpoint Central technicians to execute UEM features such as software install/uninstall, remote control, etc.
* Remote control is available for free for existing customers who have been using AssetExplorer before version 11.3. For new customers, it is available as an add-on.
Will Endpoint Central be installed in HTTPS mode?

here.
