Software Type

Software Type


Software Type classifies software applications that are owned and managed within AssetExplorer.
 
The default software types available are as follows:
 
Software Type
Explanation
Freeware
Software provided without charge
Shareware
Free software distributed for evaluation, with a potential fee for ongoing use
Managed
All licensed software
Excluded
Software that is not required to be managed
Prohibited
Software that the organization restricts
Unidentified
Software that cannot be classified or categorized
 

Add Software Type 

Role Required: SDAdmin
  1. Go to Admin > Software > Software Type.
  2. Click New Software Type.
  3. Provide a name and description.
  4. Select Enable software compliance if applications in this category should be managed by Asset Explorer for compliance. 
  5. Click Add Software Type.
  

Edit or Delete Software Type 

To edit a software type, click beside the software type, make changes as required, and click Update Software Type.
To delete a software type, click beside the software type, and confirm your action.

Default software types cannot be deleted or edited.
