Reconciliation

IT assets added with barcodes have barcodes as their name. If the asset is moved to In Use state, renamed in the network and scanned, they are detected as new assets and duplicated in AssetExplorer. Administrators must reconcile duplicate assets manually.

To avoid this,
  1. Before moving the asset to In Use state, find the asset in the application.
  2. Edit the asset name to DNS name.
When the asset is scanned, the asset name fetched via scan will match the asset details in the application.
