Product Type

Product type is a high-level classification of assets to categorize different products purchased for the organization, based on their functionality or characteristics.

Add New Product Type

  1. Go to Admin > Asset Management > Product Type.
  2. Click New.
  3. Provide the following information:
    1. Name: Provide a name that uniquely identifies the product type.
    2. Asset Type: Select if the product is an Asset, Component, or Consumable.
    3. Asset Category: Categorize the product as IT or Non-IT.
    4. Description: Provide a relevant description about the product type.
  4. Click Save.

Edit or Delete Product Type

Click beside the product type name and choose Edit or Delete.
When default product types are deleted, they will be marked as inactive.  

Filter Product Types Listed

Use the filter drop-down to view the active or inactive product types.


You can restore inactive product types by selecting them and clicking Mark as Active.


Only the Name and Description fields can be edited for the default product types.
The default product types Workstation, Server, Smart Phone, Tablet, and Software cannot be deleted.
