Populate CIs in CMDB

Populate CIs in CMDB

By default, the following entities are populated in CMDB:
  1. IT assets, non-IT assets, and asset components added under Assets module.
  2. Departments and users added under Admin > Organizational Details.
Virtual hosts and virtual machines added under Assets module will be populated under workstations and servers in CMDB.
By default, CIs will also be tracked as assets. You can disable CIs of a certain CI type from being added as assets while creating CI types.

AssetExplorer also provides you several other ways to populate CIs into your CMDB:

  1. Import from Active Directory (for Windows machine)
