Modify Asset State

Update the availability or status of assets. Asset state helps asset managers track and manage the life cycle of assets.


Role Required: SDAdmin, SDSiteAdmin, Technicians with Add/Edit Assets permissions.

  1. In the Assets tab, select your preferred asset classification - IT Asset, Virtual Hosts and VMs, Non-IT Assets, or Asset Components.
  2. Select the asset product type.
  3. On the asset list view, select the preferred assets.
  4. Go to Actions > Modify State on the toolbar.
  5. Select the state to which the asset must be moved. If the asset is moved to In Use state, specify the user/department/site where the asset is used.
  6. Add comments to explain the state change, if needed.
  7. Click Save.

If an asset associated with an asset component is moved to In Store state, the association will be removed.

Alternatively, you can also spot-edit asset state by clicking an asset state from the Asset State column on the list view.
