An SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate is a digital certificate that verifies a website's identity and allows for an encrypted connection.
If AssetExplorer operates on an HTTPS port or uses HTTPS mode for communication with Endpoint Central agents, a valid SSL third-party certificate needs to be uploaded to the application.
Fresh installations of AssetExplorer from builds 6986 and above will automatically start in HTTPS mode.
To upload an SSL certificate to AssetExplorer, go to Admin > General Settings > Security Settings > Import SSL Certificate.
Browse and select the certificate file. Only files with extensions .cer, .crt, .p7b, .pfx, .keystore, or .jks can be uploaded.
- For .pfx, .keystore, and .jks files, enter the keystore password and click Import to upload the SSL certificate.
- For .cer and .crt files, upload the keystore file and enter the password.
- Choose the upload method for the intermediate/root certificate. For manual upload, select the appropriate files and click Import. You can upload a maximum of four Intermediate/Root Certificates.
- For the .p7b file, provide the keystore file, enter the password, and click Import.
Restart the application for the changes to take effect.
If you have the Private Key as a.key file, you do not have to enter any password.
