Import CI(s) From CSV

Import CI(s) From CSV

Asset Explorer allows you to import the CI information saved as CSV files from an existing database or from other applications.
In the CMDB tab, go to Import > CI(s) from CSV. Alternatively, you can also navigate to Admin > CMDB > Import CI(s) from CSV.

Step 1: Locating the CSV file
  1. In the CI Import Wizard, select the CI Type to which you want to import the CIs to.
  2. Click Choose File to locate the CSV file on your device.
  3. Click Submit.
Step 2: Mapping the fields
  1. Select the date format for the date fields. Ensure that the date fields in the CSV file are of the same format.
  2. The columns in the CSV fields are displayed as drop-downs. Map the CI fields with the relevant columns.
  3. Click Import.
Additional Pointers:
  1. If the CI Type chosen is a parent and if a CI row in the CSV file corresponds to a sub CI Type, then the same can be mapped during customize mapping. Ensure that the sub CI Type specified in the CSV file is already configured in the application.
  2. If existing CIs are imported again under a different CI Type, the CIs are grouped under the new CI Type.
If there are any failure records while importing the CIs, do not re-import the same CSV file. Download the FailedCIsList.csv file available in the Imported result page, correct the errors and then import to avoid duplicate CIs.
