FAQs Related to UEM Products

With the last upgrade of AssetExplorer, it looks like we need to install Endpoint Central for scanning Assets. Is it included with our Enterprise License or does it need to be purchased as an Add-On?

AssetExplorer uses powerful and secure agents from Endpoint Central for scanning, remote control*, and fetching warranty information. It doesn't require any additional licenses to be purchased.
Remote control is available for free for customers who have already been using AssetExplorer versions 6900 and above. However, this feature is available as an add-on for new customers.

UEM agent or Endpoint Central agent is used for asset discovery in AssetExplorer. UEM is free for up to 25 devices.

Regardless of purchasing a UEM license, the Endpoint Central agent will perform asset discovery in AssetExplorer.

Is UEM installation necessary? How long does the trial version last?

For asset discovery in AssetExplorer, UEM installation is required. UEM will revert to a free edition after a 30-day trial.

How can I download the Endpoint Central agent and Patch Manager agent on the same machine?

Noticed that Endpoint Central is currently installed in trial mode (30 days). Can you advise on what will happen at the end of this period?

Endpoint Central is installed as a trial version for 30 days. During this period you can explore full UEM features. At the end of this 30-day period, it automatically converts to a free edition. However, the features mentioned below will continue to work for all assets managed in AssetExplorer.
  1. Agent-based Scan for scanning Windows, Mac, and Linux machines
  2. Remote control for Windows, Mac, and Linux machines

  4. Auto upgrade of agents to newer versions

After our recent AssetExplorer upgrade, I see a notification insisting I upgrade the Endpoint Central server? Is it mandatory?

When will the 30 minute restriction be removed? If the scan fails and an adjustment is made, we can't test again for another 30 minutes.

An asset can be scanned once every 30 minutes using AssetExplorer. During this time, the resources will be locked. In case of any modifications on the client machine, like software installation or uninstallation, the agent will automatically perform a scan and transmit the data to the server.
