From which build will the Endpoint Central agent be used for agent scan?
Build No 6900.
What are the advantages of moving to the Endpoint Central for agent scan?
AssetExplorer uses Endpoint Central for agent scan. It is a unified endpoint management tool for Windows, Linux, and macOS computers. During the scan, these agents fetch complete hardware details across Windows, Linux, and Mac machines.
Yes. It is recommended to take a backup of Endpoint Central. Please refer to
this link for more details.
Will there be any change in the license for the existing customers who deploy Endpoint Central agents for scanning?
No, there will be no changes in the license for the existing customers from build 6900 who deploy Endpoint Central agents.
With AssetExplorer and EndpointCentral integrated, what will happen if the number of assets purchased in Endpoint Central is lesser than AssetExplorer?
New customers of AssetExplorer (from build ≥ 6900) will have inventory and warranty features served from Endpoint Central for all assets in AssetExplorer. However, for features like remote control, chat, Wake-on-LAN, and system manager, an add-on license has to be purchased. Once the add-on license is purchased, these features will be supported for the number of assets purchased in the add-on license.
All existing AssetExplorer customers with Endpoint Central integration enabled already (before build ≥ 6900) will have inventory, warranty, and remote control features served from Endpoint Central for all assets in AssetExplorer. If the number of assets purchased in AssetExplorer is higher than the assets in Endpoint Central, inventory, warranty, and remote control features will be supported for all AssetExplorer assets. Other Endpoint Central features like Wake-on-LAN, system manager, chat, system tools, and remote shutdown would only work for assets purchased in Endpoint Central.
All existing AssetExplorer customers without Endpoint Central integration will have inventory, warranty, and remote control features served from Endpoint Central for all assets in AssetExplorer. For features including chat, Wake-on-LAN, and system manager, an add-on license has to be purchased. Once the add-on license is purchased, these features will be supported for the assets purchased in the add-on license.
What will be the AssetExplorer technician's role in Endpoint Central?
Technicians who have asset view permissions or the AERemoteControl role will be given the admin role in Endpoint Central. If these technicians are deleted from AssetExplorer, they will also be removed from Endpoint Central.
What happens if an asset that is managed in both AssetExplorer and Endpoint Central is deleted in AssetExplorer?
Assets in AssetExplorer are managed for both Endpoint Central and AssetExplorer. If an asset deleted in AssetExplorer does not have any Endpoint Central functionality, it will also be deleted in Endpoint Central. The agents installed in the client machines will be uninstalled too. However, if the asset deleted in AssetExplorer has an Endpoint Central functionality, it will not be deleted in Endpoint Central, and such assets will be added to the excluded list in AssetExplorer.

Admin >
Apps & Add-ons >
Integrations >
UEM Products. Once integrated, agent deployment can be managed from the Endpoint Central installed device. For more details, please refer to

What if the number of technicians in AssetExplorer and Endpoint Central is different?
Even if the number of technicians is lesser in Endpoint Central than in AssetExplorer, all the AssetExplorer technicians will be allowed to perform agent-related functionalities such as inventory, remote control, and system manager within AssetExplorer.
Is agent-server communication secure?
Yes
Should Endpoint Central be upgraded separately for subsequent service packs?
While upgrading AssetExplorer to later versions, a few upgrades might require Endpoint Central also to be upgraded for compatibility. In such cases, a message would be displayed on the top banner in AssetExplorer. Please note that this upgrade must be performed manually.
If you have downloaded and installed Endpoint Central within AssetExplorer on a Windows server for inventory and remote control tools functionality, the backup and restore process for Endpoint Central needs to be done separately. For more information, please refer to
this link.
