Asset Sync Rules

Asset sync rules enable you to populate CIs as assets in ServiceDesk Plus.
Using sync rules, you can define which CI and what data should be synced from it. Any changes made to the data in the CI will be reflected in the corresponding asset.

Sync rules will be applied when the synced CIs are added, updated and deleted.  
To create a sync rule,
  1. Go to Admin > Customization > Asset Management > Sync Rules, and click New.
  2. Configure the fields using these pointers:
Field
Explanation
CI Type
Select the CI Type you want to sync. The CIs under this CI Type will selected for sync.
Destination Product Type
Select the Product Type you wish to sync the CIs under.
Description
Enter the sync rule purpose and usage.
Status
Enable or disable the sync rule.
Disabled sync rules cannot be used for sync.
Filter CIs and create Asset
You can further refine the CI Type selected to sync specific CIs within this CI Type based on certain criteria.
Choose the column, criteria, and value.
Filter the module selected based on certain criteria.
Use the or icons to manage multiple criteria.
You can choose between the AND and OR operations to define how the subcriteria.
For example: CI Status│ is â”‚Critical
Map CI Type Fields with Asset Fields
Map the CI Type field to the asset field. Only the mapped field information will be synced.
For example, Serial Number (Asset field) - Serial Number (CI Type field)
 
Notes
Only fields of the same type can be mapped. 
Delete asset when linked CI is deleted
Enable this field to delete the CI when the synced asset is deleted.
Create drop-down option if it does not exist
Enable this option to add CI fields to relevant picklists in the assets module, i.e., the synced assets are included in drop-downs that list all assets.
 
 
Sync rules are automatically applied when the synced CIs are added, updated and deleted. You can also manually apply sync rules using the Run Through option in the sync rule list view.
 

Sync Rules List View Actions

  1. Filter the sync rules by the source module, CI Type, and destination module by using the filters available.
  2. Enable or disable a sync rule using the toggle under the Status column.
  3. Edit or delete a sync rule by clicking against it.
  4. To delete multiple sync rules at once, select the sync rules using the check boxes, and click .
  5. Change the order in which sync rules will be executed.
    1. Click Reorder and select the source module in the drop-down.
    2. Drag the sync rules using or change the sequence by entering the number in the field.
  6. Click > Run Through against a sync rule to execute a sync rule instantly.
