From which AssetExplorer build is UEM agent used for scanning?
Build No 11300
What are the advantages of moving to UEM agent?
Endpoint Central (formerly Desktop Central) is a complete and robust unified endpoint management tool for Windows, Linux, and macOS computers. Some of the advantages of leveraging UEM agent are:
Specific agents for scanning Windows, Linux and macOS devices.
Complete hardware details are fetched during the scan.
Uniformity of data fetched across Windows, Linux, and Mac machines.
Will there be any change in the license for the existing customers who deploy UEM agents for scanning?
No, there will not be any licensing changes for the existing customers who deploy UEM agents for scanning.
With AssetExplorer and Endpoint Central integrated, what will happen if the number of nodes purchased in Endpoint Central is lesser than AssetExplorer?
For new AssetExplorer customers who purchased AssetExplorer after build 11300:
Inventory and warranty features will be served from Endpoint Central for all AssetExplorer nodes.
For features such as remote control, chat, announcement (supported in AssetExplorer only), Wake-on-LAN, system manager an add-on license has to be purchased.
After the add-on license is purchased, these features will be supported for the number of nodes purchased in the add-on.
For existing customers with Endpoint Central integration already enabled before build 11300:
Inventory, warranty, and remote control features served from Endpoint Central for all AssetExplorer nodes.
If the number of nodes purchased in AssetExplorer is higher than the nodes in Endpoint Central, inventory, warranty, and remote control features will be supported for all AssetExplorer nodes.
Other Endpoint Central features such as Wake-on-LAN, system manager, announcement(in AssetExplorer only), chat, system tools, remote shutdown (including shut down, restart, hibernate, standby, and lock computers) will be functional only for nodes purchased in Endpoint Central.
For existing customers without Endpoint Central integration:
Inventory, warranty, and remote control features served from Endpoint Central for all AssetExplorer nodes.
For features including chat, announcement (supported in AssetExplorer only), Wake-on-LAN, system manager, an add-on license has to be purchased.
After the add on license is purchased, these features will be supported for the nodes purchased in the add on license.
What will be the AssetExplorer technician's role in Endpoint Central?
Technicians with View Asset permission or AERemoteControl role will be added in Endpoint Central as Endpoint Central Admin. If the technicians are deleted in AssetExplorer, they will also be deleted in Endpoint Central.
What happens if an asset that is managed both in AssetExplorer and Endpoint Central is deleted in AssetExplorer?
Assets in Endpoint Central are managed for both AssetExplorer & Endpoint Central functionalities.
If an asset deleted in AssetExplorer does not use any Endpoint Central functionality, it will be deleted in Endpoint Central and the agent installed in client machines will be uninstalled.
If the asset deleted in AssetExplorer uses Endpoint Central functionalities, it will not be deleted in Endpoint Central. The assets will be added under Exclude list in AssetExplorer.
Will the agentless scan be supported?
No, the agentless scan is no longer supported in AssetExplorer. You can use scan scripts to perform agentless scans. However, we strongly recommend not to use an agentless scan/script scan.
