Add IT Assets

Role Required: SDAdmin, SDSiteAdmin, Technicians with Add Assets permissions.

Add IT Assets Manually 

You can add IT assets manually using forms from the Assets module.
  1. Go to Assets.
  2. On the left navigation pane, select IT Assets.
  3. Select your preferred asset product type. Eg: workstation, server, printer, etc.
  4. On the asset list view, click New.
  5. Select Add asset through form.
  6. Specify the general asset details such as name, model, product, or business impact.
  7. Mention the asset state and the site/location where the asset is being used.
  8. Add details to identify the asset such as asset tag, barcode, acquisition date, or vendor name.
  9. Add details specific to the asset model or product type, if any.
  10. Configure depreciation details for the asset by selecting one of the options:
    1. Use data configured for selected model - Apply depreciation configured for the asset model under Admin > Asset Management > Product.
    2. For this asset - Configure depreciation method specific to the asset.

  11. Click Save.
You can also create IT assets by using Quick Actions menu on the application header. Learn how.

Scan Assets 

You can scan assets through one of the following methods to sync their details to AssetExplorer:
  1. UEM agent-based scan
  2. Windows domain scan
  3. Network scan
  4. Scheduled scan
  5. Distributed asset scan

Barcode Generation 

You can also generate barcodes and add assets.
  1. On the asset list view, click New.
  2. Select Generate barcode and add new assets.
  3. Alternatively, you can go to Barcode section on the left navigation pane and select Barcode Generation.

Import Assets 

To bulk-add IT assets, you can import asset details from CSV files.
  1. On a IT asset list view, click New.
  2. Select Import from CSV.
  3. Alternatively, you can go to Admin > Asset Management > Import Asset(s) from CSV.
